This was just a few weeks ago... but seems a distant memory now
it's so grey out there I thought a bit of colour might brighten the day
**********
especially one of my favourites who always cheers me up; the custards who seems to have dropped off the planet, I do hope all is well...
all quiet except lazy daisy jones who's a whirlwind of making and must be on something, whatever it is I wish she'd share it around!
mrs bertimus must also be on the same stuff and is producing some great art.
I think perhaps a lot of us are taking stock of our lives
While away lazing on a beach looking at the sky you have time to put a lot of things into perspective...
I returned with the idea to close my etsy shop and get rid of all the wool, fabric and trimmings accumulated, I'll never use them all!
but have now decided to try and make the shop more cohesive and still de stash, so that presents the problem of how to sell them, maybe a table at a fair, but where, any ideas?
I'd prefer an open day here in the summer and offer tea and cake to anyone who turned up but I don't think many would be able to get to Dorset...
**********
This weekend brought sad news of two deaths, a friend's mother and another friend's daughter, only in her twenties...
something like that certainly puts things into perspective.
Enjoy even grey Mondays... x
Ah! Bless! So pleased you did'nt select 'I Don't Like Mondays'.
ReplyDeleteHeHe! That will never do! :).
I took 'stock' of my life yesterday....Chicken stock actually,
just to spice up the gravy...!
Oh! And! Yeah! I'm up for tea and cake, as long as is Earl Grey,
with lemon. Put me down for that!
And,anyone will come to Dorset...After all, it's God's own county.
Loads and loads of fairs and markets in and around the area.....
With spring coming round the corner, now is the time to look round.
And, deaths, oh! my goodness! I've experienced three this year....
And all younger than me....Family!
Old Sicilian saying....
"To the living we owe the truth...To the dead we owe respect".
But...Remember...
"Every day may not be good...But, there's some good in every day".
What a lovely comment Willie... and your saying is perfect xxxxxxx
DeleteShhh... I think they are all on instagram...perhaps if you shout 'tea and cake at mine' they may return? Love the pink shorts! xx
ReplyDeleteThink I'll keep the tea and cake for myself!
Deleteyes I think there all instagram too! sorry you had news. Open day in Dorset sounds lovely....! and was that your holiday? gorgeous. I do wish you pulled up some of that decking and brought it back with you, I would love to use that to photograph my wares! X
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea, maybe I can use the photo as a backdrop if I can get my head around photoshop.
DeleteSo sorry to hear of the sad losses in your family. Hope you will have sunshine to cheer you up a little soon! Take care!
ReplyDeleteMadelief x
Thankfully not my family, but so sad for my friends. x
DeleteLove the photos - had been hoping to see some, but maybe Mr Pink Shorts doesn't put them out there? Very sorry to hear of the losses. I would love to see you and eat your cake next time I am in the Northern Hemisphere. There must be lots of wool and fabric enthusiasts in Dorset?
ReplyDeleteAnna you'll have to trek down and stay when you come over to visit your daughter, that's the son's hairy legs!
DeleteSo sorry to hear of your sad news. We've had a lot of that going on here too and you're right. it certainly does put things into perspective.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you try Bridport Vintage Market ... last Sunday of the month, St Michael's Trading Estate ... great atmosphere!
M x
Thank you, I'll look into that one, am hoping to drop in to Bridport this Saturday for a look around while on my way to visit my mother.
DeleteThank you for those gorgeous blues and golds - they certainly cheered me up! Yes, perhaps all those bloggers are instagrammers now. Personally, I spend far too long pinning on Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteDon't mention pinterest to me! I've only just managed to wean myself off of it or at least ration it to an hour if I open it up, why on earth is it so addictive?
DeleteIf I was on your side of the pond, I would definitely go to Dorset for tea and cake and wool. And I may never leave because it's so beautiful there. Except for the dragons in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Pinterest is that you think, I'll just go to the end of the page. But there's never an end of the page!
Unfortunately you have now introduced me to vogoff... I was nearly crying with laughter, (I thought that was a branding iron in her hand not a potato masher).
DeleteSo sorry to hear your sad news me dear.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are like a breath of fresh air!
And thank you for the mention, you made me blush! X
You have an inspiring blog... so no need to blush. x
DeleteMy dear the woolly dog
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear such heartbreaking news - life is a turbulent path and I don't know how people find their way through it all sometimes.
Best wishes Jenny
Hello again dear the woolly dog
ReplyDeleteI thought it appropriate to make these comments separately.
I was very touched that you noticed my absence - I am not busy instagramming (is that a word?) as I don't really keep up with technology (apart from at work - where I keep up with a great more than I wish to). I am not able to join in with anything that involves the use of a mobile telephone - I don't possess one (perhaps Instagram doesn't need that though?). For years I was on call 24 hours a day and worked long, long hours (80+) a week and have never wanted to be so contactable again - even today the sound of a phone ringing makes my stomach turn (I suppose I could put it on vibrate!). A lack of a mobile phone drives everyone else mad.
Sadly my work is not the slightest bit interesting or useful for blogging purposes so I am not able to combine the two - which would make life easier. I have felt embarrassed that I have not been able to reply to kind comments and just haven't been able to keep all those plates spinning despite working seven days a week. I have taken hundreds of photographs and, at night, when I can't sleep I have written (in my head) some hilarious posts - usually forgotten by the morning! As Spring is the most uplifting time of the year I will get my loins girded and put my metaphorical pen to the metaphorical paper.
Many thanks once again my dear for the mention - it was uplifting to see
Best wishes
Jenny
Lovely to hear you're all right Jenny, it doesn't matter about the gaps in peoples posts does it, after all we all have things to do, it's just that if there's a huge gap in someone's blog who usually posts at least once a month then I think something must have happened, or is that just pessamistic me? I'm not on instagram or twitter or facebook and not quite sure why I blog, why any one does... try and write some of those night time sleep deprived writings when you have time because I love your sense of humour. x
DeleteMy dear the woolly dog
DeleteThank you for your kind reply and most recent posting! That made me laugh. Since I last sent a message to you I have been slotting in some 'creative' (loose use of term...) writing and see a vague window of opportunity before Easter. I love reading blogs and wish I had more than one self who could do all that reading for me. I love your dry sense of humour too and I love Terry Thomas, Basil Rathbone, Margaret Rutherford, Alistair Sim...........Carry on Spying.....Carry on Screaming.....
YOU'RE AN ABSOLUTE SHAR (I hope that reads right!!)
PS: Children also preparing for GCSEs, AS exams....
