The new year arrived...

The new year arrived
in utter simplicity —
and a deep blue sky
— Kobayashi Issa (1763–1827)

...and in the post this morning, arrived my beautiful temari.

Temari are handmade thread-wrapped and embroidered spheres that were
first created as toys for children; they originated in China and were later
brought to Japan. Over time temari have evolved into a highly-prized,
exquisite form of folk art, symbols of deep friendship and loyalty, cherished as
gifts for auspicious occasions especially  the new year or new beginnings.
Imbued with the spirit of the maker, they are a wonderful source of inspiration
or object for meditation and contemplation.www.etsy.com/shop/KumoTemari

Wool treasury...

One of the things I love about etsy, is its wealth of beautiful and interesting images to make into treasuries for inspiration.

and of course the things you can buy...
Bought three of these books, two were given as presents to friends, I hear one is almost full, which is a bit worrying...

This handmade rude little black book is a useful non violent alternative to mayham, the perfect place to journal away all your frustrations into laughter. A soft buckrum cover stamped with gold lettering.
